Samsung shipped over 61% of total foldable smartphones

Samsung is a leader in foldable smartphones. It was an early entry and created a new category. It appears that Samsung’s early gamble in South Korea has paid off as the company now dominates the market for foldable smartphones.

An analysis firm Omdia has revealed that Samsung held more than 61% of the market for foldable smartphones shipped in 2021. The report also revealed that five of the 11 most popular foldable smartphones on the market are made by Samsung.

According to the Omdia report, combined shipments from the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone account for 7.1million units. This is more than 61 percent of all phones shipped. According to some reports, Samsung’s smartphones could account for 70% of the global foldable smartphone market this year.

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the most-popular foldable smartphone with approximately 4.6 million units sold. This feat is impressive for the South Korean technology giant, which has managed to increase its shipments by 1.1 million units in 2020.

After learning from its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was priced significantly lower than its predecessor. This helped to increase its sales.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s price was also reduced by $200. This is in contrast to the previous model, which cost $1,799. This resulted in an increase in shipment from 700,000 units in 2020, to 2.5 million units in 2021.
